I don’t always know how to say the words “I love you”

but I will wake you up in the morning with a warm cup of coffee. I’ll bake bread every Sunday before holding your hand while we walk through the city to our favourite bookstore where I’ll read you the same poem as the week before. I will write grocery lists at the kitchen counter with you and sneak your favourite flowers into the cart while you’re not looking. I’ll give you my gloves before your hands get cold and I will greet you with a kiss after every day we spend apart. I’ll order your favourite flavour of bubble tea and scoop out every last pearl before your lips touch the straw. I will write you poems and kiss them across your body late in the night. I will wash your dishes and fold your laundry before you get home from a long day and I’ll teach you to dance under the light of the moon while snowflakes fall on our eyelashes. I will make you hot soup with the world inside your brain turns cold. I will leave you notes around the kitchen telling you I love you, I’m thinking about you, because I will always be thinking about you. when the empty bowl mirrors the ache in your heart, I will hold you so tight you forget the loneliness of a hollow chest. I will wipe away your tears and turn out the lights so I can sit in the darkness with you. I will let you rest your head on my shoulders when the world is too heavy on yours. when I want to run, I will always choose a path shaped as a circle so I will always be running towards you. and when you forget how much I love you, I will wake you up in the morning with a warm cup of coffee.
